07:40am August 5th, 2018. The professional debuts always put the performers at the front of global fame; even at death.

A Wellington footballer has died during a match after collapsing while making a halftime talk.

North Wellington Onslows captain Tim Robertson, 53, was giving a talk to his team at halftime during their match at Alex Moore Park in Johnsonville on Saturday when he collapsed from an apparent heart attack, Stuff reports.

Manager and teammate Matthew Leach said the team was still in shock.V

"We were just about to go back out onto the field and, bang, down he went," Leach told Stuff.

"People are struggling, big time, to try and get a handle on it. It's hard work."

A first aid team and paramedics tended to Robertson for 40 minutes but he did not respond.
