PAUL POGBA’s agent Mino Raiola has reportedly been in talks with Barcelona in an attempt to force a move away from Manchester United.

Mourinho: Pogba better suited to World Cup than Man Utd

Pogba has been linked with the Catalan giants throughout the summer and it was reported yesterday that United had turned down a cash-plus-players bid for the France international.

Sky Italia claimed that the Red Devils rebuffed an offer of £45million with centre-back Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes also included.

Mina, valued at around £35m, has been touted with an Old Trafford move in recent weeks as Jose Mourinho presses for a new centre-back while £30m-rated Gomes was linked with Arsenal earlier in the window

But the Mail say that United have no interest in releasing their club-record midfielder, despite the fact he was out of Mourinho’s team for a spell last season and has appeared to be at odds with the Portuguese boss at times.

It is added that Pogba was disappointed by Mourinho’s public digs at his World Cup performances.

The United manager claimed that the summer tournament - which Pogba’s France won in Russia - is the “perfect” environment for him because he “can only think about football” as opposed to other outside influences.

The 25-year-old has struggled to recreate the performances of his four-year Juventus stay since a then-world record £89m move from Serie A back to United in the summer of 2016.

Yet it is said that renowned agent Raiola has had discussions with Barca to discuss a move - one which Pogba himself would be open to, according to the Mail.

It is added that Pogba’s representatives are aware any switch is unlikely to happen this summer, with the transfer window shutting this Thursday at 5pm.

Barca can still look to poach Pogba until the end of August, with the La Liga deadline not until August 31, although United would be unable to bring in a replacement - virtually dismissing any possibility of a deal.

The move could be a deliberate tactic on Raiola’s part to improve Pogba’s terms with United.

The 20-time Premier League champions made Alexis Sanchez their highest-paid player in January - the Chilean thought to be earning as much as £500,000-a-week.

Pogba, meanwhile, is understood to be on closer to £200,000-a-week.

Raiola, who also counts Pogba’s team-mate Romelu Lukaku among his clients, contacted United about a new-and-improved pay-packet shortly after Sanchez’s arrival earlier this year and could be looking to scare the club into meeting their demands.

But the United academy graduate’s long-term future has been uncertain for some time.

Raiola’s ask for bigger wages was followed by claims from Pep Guardiola that Manchester City had been offered the chance by the 50-year-old to sign Pogba in the January transfer window.
