Arsenal plot shock move for £44.5m for one of the best defenders in the world!!!

05:58am, August 7th, 2018

Arsenal.  FC, having broken the jinx on transfer market,  and started to buy with heavy spending spree in the transfer market.  The club are securing the hands of big names.

There could still be some transfer movement at the Emirates over the next few days

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

It's been a rather busy summer at the Emirates so far, yet there could potentially be another addition over the next few days.

A new left-back could be on the agenda following the news that Sead Kolasinac is set to face 10 weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury, while midfielder Steven N'Zonzi continues to be linked with a move from Sevilla.

However, reports in Germany suggest the Gunners could in fact be looking at a new centre-back.

The German international, who has been linked with Juventus, has been heavily tipped to depart the Bundesliga champions ahead of the deadline.

Manchester United, who are desperately looking to strengthen at the back, have reportedly made an official approach to Bayern for the 29-year-old.

Ed Woodward, United's executive vice-chairman, has spoken to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern's CEO, and inquired about how much it would cost to sign the ex-Man City man.

Currently contracted to the German club until 2021, Bayern value their defender at €50m (£44.6m).

With the Red Devils approaching Bayern about the highly-rated defender, Arsenal would have to move quickly before Thursday's deadline if they wanted to sign him.

Given that Jose Mourinho has been left very frustrated about his club's transfer dealings so far this summer, Arsenal could well deliver them another hammer blow if they decide to make a late move.

It's good for the gunners if Boateng can sign for them
