AC Milan’s strong summer transfer window could be about to continue as they line up a stunning deal to beat Chelsea and Serie A rivals Juventus to the transfer of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Milan have just signed Gonzalo Higuain from Juve in a major show of ambition, and Milinkovic-Savic would be another statement purchase after establishing himself as one of the finest midfielders in Europe at the Stadio Olimpico.

According to La Stampa, the Rossoneri are preparing a huge transfer package that would involve paying Lazio an initial £35.6million loan fee with the option to then sign the Serbian permanently for an additional £71.2m.
This would bring the total value of the deal to around £107m and see Milan beat some big names to Milinkovic-Savic’s signature if they pull it off.
As noted by La Stampa, Juventus are also interested in the 23-year-old, while Calciomercato recently linked him with Chelsea in a potential swap deal involving Charly Musonda.
Additional reporting from Joe also notes that Manchester United were linked with Milinkovic-Savic at various points this summer, though this speculation has died down somewhat of late, perhaps due to the signing of Fred in midfield and the strong form of youngster Andreas Pereira in pre-season since returning from loan.
It would be a shame not to see Milinkovic-Savic in the Premier League, and one imagines he could have had plenty to offer both United and Chelsea.
The Red Devils may have added Fred to their options in the middle of the park this summer, but are yet to truly solve their Paul Pogba conundrum as he struggles to hit top form in Jose Mourinho’s system.
One imagines the Lazio man might have been a more natural fit, and he would also surely have been a very useful signing for Chelsea given their options in that area right now.
Since Nemanja Matic left last summer the Blues have brought in flops like Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater, and while Jorginho looks a promising signing this year, there certainly seems room for one more top player to line up alongside him and N’Golo Kante in Maurizio Sarri’s preferred 4-3-3 formation.
